After providing designs for a new “Concept Branch”, I was approached by building society Wide Bay Australia to incorporate some of those features into a tenancy in Stockland Caloundra shopping centre. The tenancy was previously another building society, and parts of the existing fitout were required to be retained in the new design. New joinery designs and a friendlier ‘open plan’ approach to the branch helps move Wide Bay Australia toward a new look and feel, which will be further developed over future branches. The schedule for design and construction was constrained, requiring special care to be taken in designing a fitout that could be constructed and installed rapidly. A “kit of parts” of modular furniture and joinery allows for flexibility and the ability to develop a design and branding language across a number of branches.
