The owners of a 1960’s modernist house in Norville approached me to provide designs for additions and alterations to the rear of the property. Over the years a number of additions of varying quality had been tacked on to the house – my approach in the early concept stages has been to strip the house back to its minimalist lines and provide the desired outdoor areas in a manner that blends into the original style. Tomas has been commissioned to design a new house close to the waterfront in Bargara. As the property backs onto parkland with distant views of tidal estuaries, the brief was to maximise the outlook while maintaining privacy. The design is based around a series of pavilions arranged to form private courtyards – some serving as outdoor living areas and others as service zones. See more
